Although some of the advice seemed a little basic to me (since I’ve been playing poker off and on for a while now), I thought that overall this was a good collection of little snippets of advice for the beginning poker player. Since several sections of this book are clearly labeled as being for beginners (and since I’ve been playing for a while), it’s probably a good thing that some of the advice seemed basic to me: it means that a brand new poker player can use this book to start getting up to speed.

I do feel, however, that this book is more geared towards someone who is relatively new; for a more experienced or well-read player, a lot of this advice may already be familiar to you. That being said, as someone who has been playing casually for a while and read a few poker books, I still managed to pick up a few nice little tricks (especially from the short section on tells).

Overall, I think that if you’re new or semi-new to the game of poker, this book will be a really helpful resource to help you take your game to the next level.
